MIST GALLERY

Located in Wufang Village, Shanghai, the MIST Gallery renovation transforms an existing two-story rural building into a small-scale cultural complex integrating a gallery, café, and office spaces. A few years ago, the broader context of rural revitalization transformed the area of the village into a commercial zone. As a post-revitalization practice, the design uses culture as a driver to re-introduce semi-open public space into the village’s everyday life.

“The project explores an alternative approach to rural renovation that does not rely on stylistic imitation. The building seeks to establish sustained everyday interactions between visitors, residents, and commercial activities.”
